Welcome to the Dartmouth Kennel Club
Originally known as Shearwater Kennel Club, renamed in 1961 Shearwater Kennel Club of Dartmouth.
The DARTMOUTH KENNEL CLUB became known as it is today on January 1, 1968.
The Club was incorporated under the Society's Act of Nova Scotia in April 1988.
Over the years DKC has offered Obedience Training, Handling Classes, Ring Stewarding Seminars, Sanction Matches, Fun Matches, All Breed Championship Shows and Licensed Obedience Trials.
The objectives of Dartmouth Kennel Club are to encourage and develop purebred dogs by educating members and the public at large of the benefits of purebred dogs, holding dog shows and obedience trials for competition and the public interest, and working in co-operation with the Canadian Kennel Club
Service to the Community:
The Dartmouth Kennel Club has had booths to promote proper dog ownership and public education of purebred dogs at various Sports shows, such as; the Wonderful World of Pets, and the RV Show, held at Exhibition Park in Halifax.
The members of the Dartmouth Kennel Club believes in giving back. Every year we make financial donations to the local SPCA, the Atlantic Veterinary Collage, the Ontario Veterinary Collage, Cole Harbour Place, Guide Dogs for the Blind and we also support Junior Handling in Nova Scotia.
